On Sunday 16th April the Power Boat Club was wowed by ANNA Q and PLAN B Jazz. Not sure what Plan A may have been but the Plan B Quartet started the afternoon with a jazz standard BLUE BOSSA then the show exploded when ANNA Q [in the sexiest red dress!] invited us to join her “Dancing Cheek to Cheek”. Julie London's “Cry Me a River” was a dream version, and Anna's favourite “A Foggy Day in London Town brought back memories. A wistful “Summertime” gave Dave on Soprano sax a soulful solo. ANNA Q again astounded with the Julie Andrews “My Favourite Things”. No holding back with ANNA Q. and Set 1 finished with a Jobim Bossa.
The Plan B group was led by Brian on Keyboards, Dave on reeds, Roger on bass, Alan on drums
holding the group with fine steady beats. ANNA stunned with 2 classic jazz vocals Dinah Washington’s “What a Difference a Day Made “and Etta James’s “At Last” with a sensitive interpretation. Cole Porter was not forgotten; his “I’ve Got You Under My skin” was nicely swung, then the show stopper “Somewhere over the Rainbow” had the audience remembering the great Judy Garland.
ANNA Q is so versatile - her soft love songs, swinging classics and Bossa Novas all get the same professional performance. The audience, the dancers all in raptures over this dynamic lady with her wonderful musicians. The afternoon as always had to finish and ANNA Q and PLAN B Jazz did just that with a rib bustin' “Devil May Care”.
ANNA Q & PLAN B a mighty THANK YOU.
