BIG KITTY

On Sunday 16th November at the Caloundra Power Boat Club the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club audience was knocked out, when Big, Big, “BIG KITTY”, hit the stage with all guns blazing!! Anna with her powerful voice, supported in style by Zoe on Trombone, Mal on Trumpet, Neil doubling on keyboards and tenor sax, Rupert on guitar, Matt slapping and plucking away on bass and electric bass, and D.J keeping a solid steady beat on drums, gave it all!!

The music was hot, fast, medium and slow. All were sung and performed with style and professionalism. Audience responded with hands and feet. “Jump Jive, “one of the early tunes, was a stunner, allowing all musicians to strut their stuff. Fast and medium songs were the standard until ANNA beautifully sang the Etta James signature tune, “AT LAST” with a well-deserved applause to follow. With this BIG KITTY music our dancers were finding new steps to show.

Next set, after a good recovering break, opened with a couple of hot swingin’ tunes to the dancer’s delight. ANNA gave a nice change of tempo with 'JUST SQUEEZE ME' and a cha cha “PERHAPS PERHAPS”. A very slow “BE BOP A LULA,” was interesting in a sexy slow tempo. Neil featured on an uptempo “LIVE OR DIE”. The afternoon just swung. Too many tunes to name. All played and sung by wonderful talented musicians especially ANNA, with her great style of voice. Ben as always keeps the sound to perfection. Our thanks to our regular dancers who enjoy always, and our thanks again to the swinginiest group who have been performing for many years - BIG KITTY !
