When Spike Milligan named a group of young musicians GALAPAGOS DUCK little did he or the group realise the influence they would have on Australian Jazz music. The DUCK has flown into just about every country and played with the top names in the music world. The DUCK flew into the Caloundra Power Boat Club, on Sunday 14th December, fluttered their wings, then QUACK, the music started and never stopped.
The DUCK has a style of jazz that covers every form of jazz and modern pop hits. The group has changes of players as do most groups for various reasons but the DUCK’s music style never changes. With original member JOHN CONLEY, leading, RODNEY FORDE, ADAM THOMAS, MAL WOOD, DAVE SPICER you expect the best musicians and GET THEM!!!.
The DUCK has so much talent. Rodney drums and a unique vocal, Dave keyboards and also sings a nice song, Mal on trumpet hits those high notes and adds a lot of fun with his quirky asides!, and Adam plays his tenor sax all the way to heaven! Then always steady as a rock John, the leader, holds everything together with his acoustic and electric basses. A master musician and a great person!!. If you were there that afternoon you will understand, remember and still enjoy in your mind the music of Galapagos Duck.
LONG LIVE GALAPAGOS DUCK!!!
